To teach in the MLL, your computing skills are as important as your teaching skills, and most cannot be relegated to lab personnel. This quiz—more formative than evaluative—is designed to reinforce skills that teachers need to teach in the MLL effectively or identify areas to brush up on. None of these questions represents a far-fetched scenario or one requiring technical knowledge. You will likely address one or more of these questions for your students in an average lab class.
How should you know the answers? There are many sources for your knowledge of MLL operations:
MLL Startup Memos distributed to all faculty every semester (on Primers page).
MLL Updates distributed to MLL teachers throughout the semester (on Primers page).
Dozens of application and activity primers on the MLL site.
MLL Orientation Video on the Dock of all lab setups.
Assistance at any time by John, Lesley, or the Technical Coordinator.
The quiz should take 20-30 minutes. (It automatically submits your answers in 45 minutes.) Be sure to read the feedback associated with correct answers. More important than your score is what you learn in the process of taking the quiz. If you have completed the quiz successfully, you will see a pop-up window similar to the one below. (You must enable pop-up windows in your browser!)
You must choose answers until you find the correct one (labelled CORRECT in feedback). Completing the quiz with incorrect answers remaining WILL NOT PRODUCE A RESULT RECORD (below).
A pop-up windows will display your results.
Be sure pop-up windows are NOT blocked in your browser.
