Orientation | Computing at BU/CELOP

You will have access to many computers at CELOP. Although we have mostly Macintosh computers in our labs, we also fully support your Windows PC. You can use your own computer at CELOP, in the dorms, or in your apartment in Boston.

 

  Skype
International Calling.
We have set up in our computer labs applications to make free or very inexpensive international calls from the computer using Skpe, MSN, iChat, and Yahoo Messenger. See MLL staff when you arrive at CELOP or read our orientation material on Skype.

4. When you register at CELOP the week before classes, you must attend several orientation sessions:

  • CELOP Orientation
  • Computing Orientation
  • BU Login Account workshop

5. If you are bringing your own computer

  • You must have a legitimate copy of the operating system (such as Windows XP) installed on your PC.
  • Windows should be completely up to date (Windows Update) with the latest Service Pack.
  • Bring the CDs or DVDs of the operating system with you.
