Yeji ChaYeji Cha

Yeji Cha, from Korea, studied at CELOP for two semesters.  She is currently a student at Korea University.

She chose to study at CELOP, because it was highly recommended to her by her family and friends.  She says,

I think CELOP is a good place to study English. The facility is clean and new. And I was easily able to find a program that suited me well.   I like the teachers at CELOP because they are hard-working, well-educated and have a passion for teaching their students. Also, the CELOP staff are very kind and willing to help students.

While at CELOP, Yeji improved her English ability:

When I first came here, I could hardly understand what Americans were saying, but now I can talk with people on the street. I have also learned a lot about American culture in my classes.

Yeji thoroughly enjoys the opportunities CELOP offers students to learn outside of the classroom:

Last week, our class went on the Freedom Trail together.  I have lived here for six months, but I didn’t know that a trail like that existed! We also visited the Old North Church and Little Italy.

The time that Yeji has spent at CELOP has helped her to plan for her future:

Before I came here I was not sure whether or not I should attend graduate school after university. But my experiences here in Boston have made me determined to go to graduate school.   There are many students at CELOP, who want to go to graduate school. They are very skilled in their fields and they are hard-working students. Also, they have a strong will to study English. When I see them, I also want to finish my graduate degree.

Yeji has been very pleased with how quickly her English has improved:

The work I do in my core class inspires me to learn English. When I first came here, it was hard for me to read a newspaper, but now, thanks to the knowledge I gained in my English for Academic Purposes core course, I can read non-fiction books in English.
