Yabara MasafumiYabara Masafumi

Yabara, from Japan, is working for the Japanese Ministry of Finance.  His area of expertise is International Macroeconomics/Finance.  He began his Master’s degree in Public Policy in Fall 2006.  He studied at CELOP for six weeks.

Before coming to CELOP, I heard from many of my colleagues who were studying in the U.S. that CELOP’s programs were well organized and students were intent on practicing their English.  I found that this was completely true.  The program was intensive enough to cultivate my English skills, although I studied there for just a short period of time and I enjoyed discussing a wide variety of matters with my classmates.

I have developed practical skills in English at CELOP, such as listening comprehension, vocabulary, and speaking.  What is  most meaningful for me is that I could have gotten accustomed to speaking in English.

I will always remember English discussions with my classmates.  They were extremely useful for developing my speaking ability and gave me valuable opportunities to come into contact with broad ranges of thoughts provided by the various cultural backgrounds of my classmates.

The teacher of my core class is excellent, although she is demanding!  She grasps the strong points and weak points of all students and I was never bored during her classes.

CELOP is the best place to study English, if one is prepared to seriously improve his/her English skills.

I had an accident in the U.S. in which I could not receive my air ticket, although I made the payment on the Internet.  The conversation skills I acquired at CELOP were really useful when I negotiated with a sales representative of the company on the phone.  This negotiation would have been much more difficult for me if I had not studied at CELOP.
