Police Major General Suwira Songmetta (Ph.D.) is from Bangkok, Thailand. He came to study at CELOP in Spring 2007.
Choosing CELOP
I work as the deputy commissioner of the Royal Thai Police and a member of the board of directors of Double A Alliance Companies.
I am meticulous in school selection because I have limited time, and time is money. Before I made the decision to attend CELOP, I visited many language institutes. It is my conclusion that CELOP is undoubtedly the best.
I have found that CELOP is professional in enhancing skills in reading, listening, writing, and speaking, as well as grammar. Especially in pronunciation, I have learned correct word stress, specific sounds, speech melody, intonation, and sentence stress.
At CELOP there is no barrier, although the students come from different backgrounds in educational level, age, and gender. CELOP uses many techniques to classify the level of skill in English, and then arranges the students who are in the same level of skills and have the same purpose for learning into the same classroom, so all students can fulfill individual objectives and succeed.

My favorite place at CELOP is the Multimedia Language Lab (computer lab). I always go there in the morning before class, after lunch, and after class in the afternoon. At this lab I can learn new language skills by myself. The amazing thing is we can evaluate and compare our performance with the standard using Pronunciation Power. In addition, there are many kinds of exercises to help in preparation for the TOEFL, GMAT, and SAT tests.
In my opinion all of my teachers are professional in English teaching. They are expert in motivating students to work hard as well as creating challenges and keeping students active all the time. I feel that the time passes fast every day because it is a wonderful climate in the class. Our classmates are happy and enjoy learning.
I have found success at CELOP. The teachers examine and point out my weak points, then help me improve my English skill. Before I came to CELOP, I had problems in reading, listening, speaking, and even writing, but within three months, I have more confidence in all these skills. Now I am ready in academic writing, public speaking, and participating in meetings or seminars.
CELOP not only provides for academics but also arranges the native speaker partners for students, and supplies entertainment for students, such as ice-breaker games on Tuesday evening and movies on Friday afternoon. In addition, CELOP students can use all Boston University facilities. The most impressive is the big, modern, and perfect fitness center of BU (FitRec). I go there almost every day in the evening before coming back to my apartment as well as on every weekend.
I am proud that I made the right decision to apply to CELOP and become an alumnus of Boston University.
