Cagri SavanCagri Savan

Cagri Savan, originally from Turkey, studied in CELOP Fall 2006 and Spring 2007. After graduating from high school in Turkey, he began to study at CELOP on his brother’s recommendation. His brother is a BU alumnus. Cagri hopes that he too can apply to BU after finishing the intensive English program at CELOP.

He thinks that the overall quality of teachers at CELOP is extremely high.

My teachers are very experienced. If I say I don’t understand, they always help me right away and explain everything to me. My teachers can all figure out what I am struggling with and help me out immediately.

I also like the computer lab. There are many English exercises I can practice on the computer, like pronunciation, grammar exercises, and TOEFL practice. Grammar and pronunciation are areas I have most improved.

At CELOP, Cagri likes to hang out with students from different countries. Naturally, English has become the common language he uses with his friends. He and his international classmates go to lunch together, go to the B.U. gym together and attend friends’ parties together.

Every week, there are many activities at CELOP as well. We play games, watch movies at CELOP; we see basketball games and art performances in Boston on the weekend. We just had a match-making game on Valentine’s Day, and I also made a Valentine card with the art material CELOP supplied.

What is Cagri favorite memory of CELOP?

The other day, I told the class that I would like to be an actor in the future; my teacher brought me information about acting schools and gave me some advice the next day. I was so touched because my teacher was so supportive of me and she took my words seriously. I can talk to my teachers about almost everything.

I like CELOP and I will recommend CELOP to anyone who is interested in taking English classes in the U.S.
