Current Research
Professor Gallagher's research and teaching examines the extent to which
economic globalization fosters development in industrializing nations--particularly
in Mexico and Latin America.
He is the author of Free
Trade and the Environment: Mexico, NAFTA, and Beyond (Stanford University
Press, 2004), the co-editor of International
Trade and Sustainable Development (Earthscan, 2002), and author of numerous
reports, articles, and opinion pieces on trade policy, development, and the
environment. Professor Gallagher is also a research associate at the Global
Development and Environment Institute at the Fletcher School of Law and
Diplomacy and Tufts University. He serves as an advisor on trade and development
policies to numerous national governments, international institutions, and
non-governmental organizations.
