Anthony Patt
Research Assistant Professor, Center for Energy and Environmental Studies, Department of Geography and Environment
PhD, 2000, Harvard University
Research interests: My work examines decision-making and policy for environmental problems, with an emphasis on behavioral economics models of choice. Of particular interest to me is how people, both citizens and experts, interpret and use probabilistic forecasts of the future, as well as inconsistent behavior with respect to the valuation of environmental goods and intertemporal preferences.

Current Research
Anthony Patt's research focuses on individual and collective decision-making in response to environmental risks. He examines what kinds of information people use, from whom they obtain the information, and how they interpret it to make decisions. A great deal of his research focuses on Africa, and the use of information about climate variability and change as a part of sustainable development. He has published research research in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, Climatic Change, and Global Environmental Change. He is an active member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Anthony recently moved to the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, near Vienna, Austria, but maintains to strong research ties to the Department of Geography and Environment.
