The grounds feature a hammock house, providing a comfortable area to relax, catch up on reading, or review research.
Rainwater is collected throughout the station using a system of roof drains and sisterns. The water is recycled for many uses throughout the camp.
While at TBS, wildlife and a wide network of trails is just a few steps away. The spacing between the buildings allows for a pleasant walk as you travel between facilities.
Due to the isolated location of the station, communication is limited. However, the TBS is in radio contact with Quito offices on a daily basis. there is also a satellite phone (available for US$ 5.00 per minute) that can be used (sparingly) by visitors. Medical assistance is available 24 hours a day through an agreement with the YPF Oil operation.
