How far in advance do you recommend booking the Castle?
We recommend booking your wedding at the Castle about one year in advance for optimum availability; however, we can accommodate requests with as little as six weeks notice if the date you are looking for is still available.
How many guests can we accommodate in this facility?
The Castle can accommodate different numbers of guests depending on the type of wedding reception you would like to have.
- Sit-down buffet meal—a maximum of 56 guests
- Sit-down served dinner—a maximum of 92 guests seated between two adjoining rooms
- Standing reception with buffet or cocktail stations—a maximum of 125 guests
Please note that for standing receptions, we can provide seating for a maximum of 40 guests at any one time.
The capacities noted here are our maximum capacities as issued by the Fire Marshall for the City of Boston and cannot be exceeded under any circumstances. Also, due to the historic nature of this building, it is not ADA-accessible.
Will we have exclusive use of the Castle on the date of our wedding?
Yes. On the day of a wedding there are no other events booked at the Castle, so you will not have to worry about other groups interfering with your ceremony or reception. We can provide you and any vendors such as your entertainment, photographer, or florist with two hours of set-up time prior to the scheduled event start time.
What are your deposit and cancellation policies?
Deposit—A nonrefundable deposit in the amount of the facility fee, along with a signed contract, is due approximately 30 days after you have confirmed your reservation of a specific date.
Future Payments—Payments will be based on menu choices and other selections. Fifty percent of the estimated charges are due 60 days prior to the event. The balance of all estimated charges will be due prior to the event o n a payment schedule to be determined on the contract.

Can we use an outside caterer?
All events held on campus are required to use Boston University “Catering on the Charles” for all food and beverage requirements. Our catering department and staff offer delicious and skillfully prepared foods of all types. Customized menu packages are available for review and discussion.
Is there any restriction on how late music can be played at the Castle? Is there enough space for a DJ/band?
We ask that your DJ or band play the last song fifteen minutes prior to the end of the reception. The Castle has adequate space for a three- or four-piece band and plenty of room for a DJ. We have accommodated larger bands, but please bear in mind that having more band members can take up some of your dance floor space. We will provide a skirted, six-foot table for your DJ’s equipment at no additional cost.
Is there a bridal changing room?
Yes. The Castle has a Bridal Suite where you can change and relax after your photos have been taken. Due to limited space, generally only the bride and groom use this area.
Is there guest parking at the Castle?
Yes. An adjacent parking lot will be reserved for you and your guests at no charge on the day of your wedding. Your facility fee does not include overnight parking accommodations.
