Impact x2 Qais

Impactx2 Content

How can we work together to promote better cultural understanding worldwide?

Qais Akbar Omar (GRS’16), a graduate student in the Creative Writing Program, has published a much-praised memoir, A Fort of Nine Towers: An Afghan Family Story. He recalls how the violence and tumult of civil war jolted his family, who, despite losing relatives, their home, and possessions, continued to nurture his wish to attend a university.

Impactx2 Call to Action

With your help, students like Qais gain the skills they need to tell their story and give us a broader understanding of the world.

News Guidelines

Only news and announcements pertaining to the College of Arts and Sciences and/or of interest to the CAS community, sponsored by the University, its schools, departments, centers, organizations, and recognized student groups, will be considered. Approved items received by the deadline will be distributed via both the CAS E-Newsletter, as well as posted to the News & Events section of the Office of Student Programs website. If you are unsure of what constitutes a news item/announcement, please see the explanation below and examples on our website, then contact our office (casevent@bu.edu) if you have further questions. If you have an event listing for our Calendar, please use the event submission form.

Appropriate news items and announcements

Important messages to the CAS student body, including academic and student life information, early publicity for future events, deadline reminders, calls for submissions, as well as highlighting a current week’s event would fit under the News/Announcement category. Follow-up pieces written about a past event may also be submitted; these items will remain archived on our website for reference. Space permitting, on-campus recruiting events or job announcements and scholarship/research opportunities geared at CAS undergraduate students may also be approved.

To place a listing

Once you have agreed to these terms, submit the news item using the online form on the next page. We strongly discourage you from e-mailing, faxing, or mailing this information to our office.
