How can we work together to promote better cultural understanding worldwide?

Qais Akbar Omar (GRS’16), a graduate student in the Creative Writing Program, has published a much-praised memoir, A Fort of Nine Towers: An Afghan Family Story. He recalls how the violence and tumult of civil war jolted his family, who, despite losing relatives, their home, and possessions, continued to nurture his wish to attend a university.

Impactx2 Call to Action

With your help, students like Qais gain the skills they need to tell their story and give us a broader understanding of the world.

Class Adjustment Guidelines

Please note: All deadlines for adding and dropping classes are firm and students are responsible for meeting them. Please consult the Office of the University Registrar for the current deadlines.

After registering for classes, students can adjust their schedules any time during the registration and Drop/Add period on a seats-available basis, using WebReg on the Student Link or by using a Class Adjustment Form.

Students may use WebReg to add a class if there is a seat available and the section is not closed. Adding a course using WebReg does not require an instructor’s signature.

WebReg may be used to drop a class until the last day to drop a course with a ‘W’. An instructor’s signature is not required to drop a course. Please consult the Registrar’s office for drop deadlines for the current semester.

Class Adjustment (Drop/Add) Form

Class Adjustment Forms for CAS students are also available in CAS Academic Advising (100 Bay State Road, Room 401) during the first two weeks of the semester.

Fill in all information requested. Be sure to check that you have listed all components such as labs, discussions, and lectures for each course. Be certain to use the correct section to drop, add, or change sections. Don’t forget to sign the form.

An instructor’s signature is required on a class adjustment form if the class is full or closed as well as for any section changes. A signature is not required when dropping a class.

CAS does not require an advisor’s signature to drop or add a course.

CAS students may not register for AU grades within the College of Arts & Sciences or in other colleges at the University, nor may undergraduate students from other colleges take College of Arts & Sciences courses for AU grades.

Completed Class Adjustment Forms may be submitted to CAS Academic Advising except on the last day of each deadline for dropping/adding courses. On the last day you must take them directly to the Office of the University Registrar (881 Commonwealth Avenue).
