Health
To support your immediate and ongoing health care needs while at Boston University, the Student Health Services center provides a medical service, behavioral medicine service by appointment or on an emergency basis, a crisis intervention counselor, and chiropractic care.
Certain health requirements, including proof of immunizations, must be met by all incoming students. Student Health Services has more information on these requirements.
Medical Insurance
Massachusetts law requires all students carrying at least 75 percent of the full-time curriculum to be covered under a qualifying medical insurance plan.
Boston University offers a medical insurance plan, administered by Aetna Student Health, to full-time and part-time students. If you don’t wish to participate in the University plan, you must annually file a Medical Insurance Waiver form that certifies coverage under a comparable medical insurance plan. More information about the University plan, enrollment and insurance waivers is available from Student Accounting Services.
The University will pay for individual participation in the University plan for GRS students who are teaching fellows, research assistants, graduate trainees, and recipients of certain University Fellowships, through its medical insurance credit program.
