New Faculty for CAS

The Department of Psychology has recruited Peter Blake, who holds an EdD from Harvard University's Graduate School of Education (Human Development and Psychology Program). Blake's doctoral work was supported by a Spencer Foundation grant. He took up a post-doctoral position in the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics at Harvard University as a result of winning the Foundational Questions in Evolutionary Biology, Post-doctoral Fellowship Prize (2010–2012) from the Templeton Foundation. This award allowed him to train with psychologists and evolutionary biologists, conducting highly interdisciplinary research exploring the evolution and development of cooperative behaviors. During this time, he also received funding from the National Institute of Child Health and Development (NICHD) for his developmental research on cooperation in children. His work focuses on how cognitive development and social learning affect altruistic giving and fairness in childhood.
