Mega-Array Reveals Birthplace of Giant Stars
Professor of Astronomy James Jackson and his collaborators were recently able to get some of the very first science-quality data from the new ALMA telescope in Chile. ALMA is a truly ground-breaking telescope for those working at long wavelengths. Their work is featured in the December 18 issue of Nature. Read More

IMAGER Rocket Studies Nearby Galaxy
The Interstellar Medium Absorption Gradient Experiment Rocket (IMAGER) launched on November 21 from White Sands, New Mexico. IMAGER is studying the nearby spiral galaxy M101. This study will directly impact our understanding of the nature of dust and our ability to accurately account for the effects of dust on observations at all redshifts. CAS researchers Ewan Douglas and Meredith Danowski are part of the project team. View launch video
