The Development & Alumni Relations office and the Boston University Alumni Association are pleased to announce the call for nominations for the 2011 Boston University Alumni Awards.
Return to the February 2011 Newsletter
The Alumni Association strives to increase recognition of Boston University and our distinguished alumni through the Boston University Alumni Awards. This year's awards ceremony will be held on October 29, 2011, during Alumni Weekend. Further details about this weekend will be available in the spring.
Since its inception in 1946, the Boston University Alumni Awards have been the highest honor the alumni association bestows upon our alumni. As you know, awardees are honored each year in the presence of alumni, students, families, and guests gathered to celebrate this important tradition.
The nomination process for the Boston University Alumni Award involves all of us and encompasses a broad array of alumni, administrators, and faculty. Wide participation is critical to the Alumni Awards selection process. If you know of an alumna or alumnus whom you feel has made remarkable contributions professionally or as a volunteer, please complete the online nomination form by visiting http://www.bu.edu/alumni/awards by the deadline of Monday, February 14.
In addition to our traditional Alumni Awards, we honor a young alumnus/a, age 35 or younger. The same general criteria used for the University Alumni Award should be used when considering a nominee for our Young Alumni Award. Criteria for both awards can also be found by visiting www.bu.edu/alumni/awards.
Although it is generally recommended that nominees be honored by their school/college prior to their names being submitted for this award, it is not compulsory (especially with regard to the Young Alumni Award). Please try to limit the number of nominations you submit to four, and do not advise a candidate of his or her nomination. Nominations from the past two years will be included for the committee to review and a complete listing of past recipients can be found on the website.
Please direct any questions about this process to Meg Umlas, Executive Director of Alumni Relations, at 617-353-9511. Please also send a copy of the information you submit to Michael Mercurio at email@example.com. Thank you in advance for your participation. We appreciate your continued support.
