BU's Ambitious Plan Features Key Role for
Arts and Sciences
The strategic plan crafted
by BU President Robert Brown
and endorsed by the Board of Trustees last
spring, following a year of substantial
community input and discussion, got front-page
coverage in the
Boston Globe on October 18 (and thorough
coverage in the Chronicle
of Higher Education, Inside
Higher Ed, and other national publications
in the days following). The plan provides
a historical context in which to consider
what Boston University is today, and it
lays out commitments and goals for building
the Boston University of the future.
Arts
and Sciences plays a vital role in the plan,
as Brown has called for the hiring of 100
new CAS/GRS faculty members within ten years,
part of a concerted emphasis on strengthening
the College as central to the quality of
BU's undergraduate experience, and indeed
as the center of the University as a whole.
