Directed by Lynne Littman, "In Her Own Time" profiles the life and work of Professor Barbara Myerhoff, who began an anthropological study of the Orthodox Jews of the Fairfax district in Los Angeles. In June of 1983, Dr. Myerhoff learned that she had cancer. Throughout the research and filming of In Her Own Time, Dr. Myerhoff explored her own evolving relationship to Orthodox Judaism, revealing the continuing importance of religious traditions and practices for individuals and families today. A discussion with executive producer Jonathan Bernstein about the film, as well as about "The Chosen" will follow.
