Dr. Kelly Swing, Professor of Environmental Science at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, and Director of the Boston University Tropical Ecology Program will speak about Ecuador's hyper-diverse Yasuni National Park. The Yasuni Biosphere Reserve in eastern Ecuador represents a pinnacle for planetary biodiversity but its existence is threatened by ever-expanding development. Through an historical and scientific lens based at the Tiputini Biodiversity Station, we'll explore the biological riches of and pressures on this fateful bastion of western Amazonia.
