Join us on Tuesday, October 25th! Amnesty International at Boston University and the Pardee School Initiative on Forced Migration and Human Trafficking (FMHT) will host a panel exploring the ongoing human rights violations and the dire human rights situation on the ground in Syria. The event will consist of a panel followed by a question and answer session with the audience. Our featured panelists are Hiam Altali Francis, president of Justice for Detainees in Syria (JDS) and Amnesty International USA member, Yoana Kuzmova, a BU Law School student and fellow at the BU Human Rights Clinic, and Ali Barazi, a JDS board member and former illegally detained political prisoner in Syria, whose brother is among the enforced disappeared in Syria whose case is being investigated by Amnesty International and JDS. The goal of this panel is to shed light on the human rights violations being committed on a mass scale, both in terms of war crime such as arbitrary detention, torture, enforced disappearances and extrajudicial executions, and the destruction of human development in that is forcing people to leave Syria.
