China and the City

Join us for a workshop organized by the BU Chinese Students and Scholars Association and co-sponsored by the Center for the Study of Asia. Professor Jinhua Zhao (Department of Urban Studies and Planning, MIT) will offer his keynote address at 11 am on "China's Urbanization: Immense, Rapid, but Out of Sync – Is China an Outlier?" Professor Enrique Silva (Urban Affairs and City Planning, BU Metropolitan College) and Professor Menegon (BU, Chinese History) will be the faculty hosts and commentators. After lunch, a "Chinese Cities Narrative Session" will feature selected students telling their personal stories and the story of their cities in China, moderated by Taiyi Sun (BU Political Science) and Haisu Yuan (BUCSSA President).
