How can we work together to promote better cultural understanding worldwide?

Qais Akbar Omar (GRS’16), a graduate student in the Creative Writing Program, has published a much-praised memoir, A Fort of Nine Towers: An Afghan Family Story. He recalls how the violence and tumult of civil war jolted his family, who, despite losing relatives, their home, and possessions, continued to nurture his wish to attend a university.

Come join Boston University's Filipino Student Association as they co-host Kamayan 2012 with the Filipino Intercollegiate Networking Dialogue's District One. Kamayan is a cultural show featuring performances from other Filipino collegiate student groups from the New England area. This year, Kamayan will feature performances by Boston University's Filipino Student Association, Philippine Society of Boston College, Brown University's Archipelag-a, and Harvard Philippine Forum. Tickets: $10 in advance/$12 at the door
