Program
Requirements
The Program consists of four College Honors courses, selected
with the supervision of the Honors Program Director or Associate
Director and satisfactorily completed by the end of the sixth
semester from the point of matriculation in CAS for students in the class of 2011. Students in subsequent Boston University classes must complete all requirements by the end of the fourth semester from the point of matriculation in the College of Arts and Sciences.
During the summer, University Orientation faculty members serve as Honors Program advisors for incoming students. Incoming students are not required to meet with Honors Program Directors.
Program requirements are:
1.) A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 no later than the end of the sixth semester for students in the class of 2011, and the end of the fourth semester for students in subsequent Boston University classes.
2.) A grade of (B) or better in
each of four College Honors course sections.
3.) College Honors course sections in at least two divisions of the College: humanities; natural science; social science; math/computer science. Students may take additional courses, but they must cover at least two CAS divisions with their HP courses.
4.) No more than two College Honors course sections in a single CAS department (e.g. Art History, Biology, Sociology, etc.) Students are welcome to take additional courses in a single CAS department, but the Honors Program will count only the first two courses, completed with a grade of B or better, toward Program requirements.
5.) Students may take all of their College Honors course sections in the Core Curriculum; however, they must take Core Curriculum HP sections in two divisions (i.e. humanities and social science).
Additional Information
1.) Students receive no extra credit for College Honors courses, nor is the credit weighted in computing the GPA.
2.) With approval from an Honors Program Director, a student may take two College Honors course sections in a given semester; however, in no case may a student take more than two College Honors courses in a single semester.
