Intra-University Transfer (IUT):
How to Advise Students Who Want to Transfer to Another BU School

Questrom School of Business (Questrom)

Students must take SMG SM 131 and SMG FE 101 and receive a grade of B- or higher in both classes and have an overall cumulative GPA of 2.0 in order to be eligible to transfer. Advise students to visit Questrom’s IUT webpage.

School of Hospitality (SHA):

Student must take SHA HF 100 and receive a grade of C or higher and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 to be eligible to transfer. Students should review the Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Administration information for curriculum guidelines and speak to an advisor in SHA by calling 617-353-3261 or by visiting 928 Commonwealth Ave.

College of Communication (COM):

Student must take COM CO 101. Students must achieve a grade of C or higher and have an overall cumulative GPA of 2.0 in order to be eligible to transfer. Additionally, students may meet with a COM advisor to discuss the transfer process while taking the COM CO 101 course prior to the end of the semester. This is to discuss curriculum, general education, and the IUT application. Students may call the COM Undergraduate Student Services Office at 617-353-3471 or visit them at 640 Commonwealth Avenue, Room 123. COM Foundation Requirements are helpful to look at when advising.

College of Engineering (ENG):

There is no prescribed gateway course for ENG. However, required courses are listed for each of the ENG B.S. degree programs, along with students reviewing the general undergraduate curricula. Students must be in good standing and have a 2.0 GPA in order to transfer to ENG. Students will need to meet with an advisor from the ENG Undergraduate Programs Office to discuss the IUT process by calling 617-353-6447 or visiting them at 44 Cummington Mall, Room 107.

Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences (SAR):

There is no prescribed gateway course for SAR; students are reviewed on a case-by-case basis for freshmen-entry professional programs. Students must be in good standing and have a 2.0 GPA in order to transfer to SAR. Students may meet with an advisor from the Sargent Academic Services Center to discuss the IUT process into one of SAR’s B.S. degree programs by calling 617-353-2713 or visiting them at 635 Commonwealth Ave, Room 207.

College of Fine Arts (CFA):

There is no prescribed gateway course for CFA; however, students must audition, submit a portfolio, or both, depending on the program that they are choosing. Students need to be in good standing and have a 2.0 GPA to transfer. Students should contact the School within CFA that they are exploring: School of Music; School of Theatre; School of Visual Arts.

School of Education (SED):

Student must take SED ED 100/101 and receive a grade of B- or higher and have an overall cumulative GPA of 2.0 in order to be eligible to transfer. Students should review SED’s Undergraduate Studies Program prior to transferring and will want to talk to a SED advisor from the Undergraduate Student Services Office by calling 617-353-3177 or visiting them at 2 Silber Way, Room 243.
