Teaching Awards
One of the most pleasant duties of a department chair is to recognize faculty with outstanding achievements in teaching. One avenue for this is the Metcalf Awards, bestowed at Commencement.
The College of Arts & Sciences awards three teaching prizes each year: the Gitner Award, Neu Award, and Wisneski Award. Nominations may come from you as chair, a departmental committee, or an individual in the department.
The College also honors outstanding student advising by faculty. These, however, are the result of nominations by students, hence the department takes no action to instigate consideration of a member of its faculty for an advising award.
