How can we work together to promote better cultural understanding worldwide?

Qais Akbar Omar (GRS’16), a graduate student in the Creative Writing Program, has published a much-praised memoir, A Fort of Nine Towers: An Afghan Family Story. He recalls how the violence and tumult of civil war jolted his family, who, despite losing relatives, their home, and possessions, continued to nurture his wish to attend a university.

Juliana Walsh Kaiser

Associate Dean for Finance and Administration

Juliana Walsh Kaiser is associate dean for administrative affairs at the College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. In that capacity, she oversees a budget of nearly $72 million and is also responsible for Arts and Sciences personnel, facilities, information technology functions, and other administrative areas. She earned a B.A. in psychology at Williams College and an M.B.A. from Boston University. She joined the Arts and Sciences Business Office in 1990.
