China’s New Leadership and the Bo Xilai Scandal
- Starts: 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 30, 2012
- Ends: 11:15 am on Tuesday, October 30, 2012
China is set to anoint a new set of top leaders. They want an orderly and quiet transition, but it is not to be. Regional power-holder Bo Xilai has been removed from the Party and is under arrest; his wife convicted of murdering a British businessman; Bo’s former police chief told all to the US Consulate in Chengdu, but he, too, is in a Chinese jail. What the devil is happening? The Rosenberg Institute has invited BU's Joseph Fewsmith, one of America’s leading scholars of Chinese elite politics, to unscramble all of this for us. Co-sponsored by Ford Hall Forum. Free and open to the public. Please show a photo ID to the security guard at the building main entrance. Light refreshments will be served.
