CAS Student Brings Angela Davis to Campus

| in Community

Civil Rights icon Angela Davis came to campus in February 2019 to talk to 650 students about her activism and modern social issues in America such as #MeToo and Black Lives Matter.  Senior sociology major Claire Lawry, who is also the president of the BU Undergraduate Sociology Association, organized the event over a six-month period, which she called “Project Angela.” With help from all over the BU community, including fellow students, Associate Professor Saida Grundy, and Associate Provost for Diversity and Inclusion Crystal Williams, Lawry was able to crowdsource enough money to invite Davis to campus.
