Pre-Professional
Advising Office
Advice and assistance
for pre-med and pre-law students at BU
Pre-Law
Advising
Students who
are planning a career in the field of law
or who are interested in exploring the
option are strongly encouraged to meet
with a pre-law advisor in the Pre-Professional
Advising Office.
Boston University
does not offer a pre-law concentration,
but rather students are encouraged to choose
classes based on their interests and their
ability to do well academically. Skills
that students should work toward developing
include writing and oral communication as
well as their knowledge of current political
and social issues.
There are five
pre-law student organizations at Boston
University: the Pre-Law Society, the AHANA
(African American, Hispanic, Asian and Native
American) Pre-Law Society, the Pre-Law Review
and the Mock Trial Team. The fifth organization,
the Mock Mediation Team, was added in the
2002-03 academic year.
The office also
provides information on law related courses
offered at Boston University, internship
opportunities and the law school admissions
process.
Students applying
to law school will need a Dean’s Letter
of Recommendation from Edward Stern, Assistant
Dean for Pre-Law Advising. Students should
contact the office to obtain further information.

dentistry, veterinary medicine, or other
health-related fields. Dr. Glen Zamansky,
the Assistant Dean for Pre-Medical Studies,
and premedical advisors are available to
counsel students on all matters pertaining
to their professional goals, their curriculum,
and professional school admission requirements
and the application process. The Office
also organizes meetings for interested students
throughout their undergraduate years and
maintains an extensive premedical and health
careers library.
