Phi
Beta Kappa
Phi Beta Kappa is the nation’s oldest
and most eminent academic honor society.
Established in 1776, Phi Beta Kappa’s
mission is to foster and to recognize excellence
in the liberal arts and sciences. There
is no application process for Phi Beta Kappa;
students are chosen by the college. Eligibility
is determined in early May of each year.
Date of eligibility will depend on date
of graduation. A select group of students
are selected for Phi Beta Kappa in December.
Only students enrolled in Independent Work
for Distinction are eligible for December
initiation. Students are informed of eligibility
by mail.
