Three Steps to Success
Step 1: Self-Assessment (Know Yourself)
Most freshmen don’t know what they want to do when they graduate; many don’t know what they want to major in, and some realize what they thought they wanted is not quite the right fit.
If this sounds like you, you are not alone, and we can help. By understanding your personality type as well as your interests, skills, and values, you will be able to make better choices while you are at BU that will help position you to succeed after graduation, whether you are entering the job market or attending graduate school.
Step 2: Exploration (Discover Your Options)
Exploring the world of work is not limited to part-time jobs or summer internships. Everything that you do can help you understand not only what industry or field you want to work in, but so many other factors as well. Do you like working alone or in a team? Would you prefer a small company or a large corporation? Do you like a regular schedule or one that varies? Are you happier in the field or in an office?
Our counselors can help you understand what you’ve already learned from past experiences and identify additional experiences to learn more.
Step 3: Implementation (Develop the Strategies To Get There)
Once you know what you are looking for, it becomes much easier to target your job search and perfect your resume, elevator speech, and interviewing skills.
