Career Expos
All BU alumni are welcome to attend any of our Career Expos, free of charge. Please be aware that many employers at expos (although not all) primarily target entry-level candidates, and might be less able to provide information for candidates with extensive experience.
Career Advisory Network (CAN)
The
Career Advisory Network, or CAN, is a database of BU alumni who have volunteered to speak with BU students and other alums about their careers. CAN should be used for career exploration, informational interviewing, or networking only, and not for conducting internship or job searches. The database is maintained by the
BU Alumni Association.
LinkedIn Group
Join the official Boston University alumni group, administered by the
BU Alumni Association. As the fourth-largest private research university in the nation, we are a community of nearly 300,000 living and working around the world. Your Alumni Association celebrates your achievements, and looks forward to being by your side as you navigate the exciting opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
The goal of this group is to serve, to involve, and to inform the BU alumni community in order to build powerful networks, promote mentoring, create initiatives, and execute programs which connect us to each other, our communities, current students and faculty, and to Boston University. Join the conversation on LinkedIn.
Alumni Networks
As a graduate of BU, there are many ways to stay connected. The
BU Alumni Networks organized by geography, industry, and shared interests can help you engage in the ways that are most meaningful to you. BU Alumni Networks organize engaging events worldwide throughout the year that connect the alumni community and foster career development.
Credentials Service—Interfolio
The CCD is discontinuing its paper credential service. We now refer our clients to
Interfolio for processing credentials. Interfolio is an online service that provides safe storage and the ability to send your credentials documents electronically or in hard copy. New CCD clients should open accounts directly with Interfolio.
Those who currently have paper files with our office have the following options:
- Transfer the contents of your BU credentials file to Interfolio. We will send your file to Interfolio and arrange for a one-year account. To facilitate this transition, BU will pay for the account set-up. (Note: this only applies to those who already have an established paper file with the CCD.)
- Close your BU credentials file and have the confidential contents destroyed.
- Send your file to the credential file office of a different institution where you may have received an undergraduate or graduate degree. BU will send your documents, but you will need to make your own arrangements to open a file at your other institution.
Please call 617-353-3590 with further instructions on how to transfer your file. Paper files held by this office and not used or updated after 10 years are considered inactive and will be destroyed.
How Alumni Can Help
Maybe you’re satisfied with your career, but want to stay connected and contribute to the growth of other BU graduates and students. We invite you to post internships and job opportunities, get in touch with students and recent grads, participate in networking events, and more.
Post Internships + Jobs
Post internships and jobs on BU CareerLink to find great employees for your organization and help current BU students or recent alums at the same time. Internships and jobs can be posted throughout the year, at any time, at no charge, on BU CareerLink. Note that there is a $25 fee for posting to multiple schools at once If you’re posting short-term or temporary positions that aren’t internships, please log on to the Student Employment Office website, or call them at 617-353-3594.
Volunteer—Career Advisory Network (CAN)
A student could benefit enormously by hearing first-hand about your experiences. The Career Advisory Network, managed by BU’s Alumni Association, is a database of BU alums who volunteer to speak with current students or other alums about such topics as:
- How they got started in their professions
- Their job responsibilities and working conditions
- The impact of work on their personal lives
- Trends in their fields
- Graduate school
- Relocating
Students are informed that CAN is not to be used to find a job or an internship, nor is it to be used for any kind of solicitation.
To learn more about CAN or register as a volunteer, please email the Alumni Association or call 617-353-5261 ( or 800-800-3466 toll-free).
Alumni Nights
The
BU Alumni Association sponsors career nights during the academic year. Typically, students are able to attend panel discussions with BU alums who are working in a variety of fields, and then meet and speak with alums at a reception immediately following. If you would like to be involved in one of these events to benefit students, please
email the Alumni Association or call 617-353-5261.
Regional Alumni Clubs
Another way you can help students and young alums is participation in a regional alumni club. Networking is an essential part of career development, and students can benefit from your strong ties to your mutual Alma Mater. Your assistance, advice, and success could be a real inspiration.
