ORA Clinical Research & Development, Inc.

Medical Writer

We are looking for motivated writers with a strong interest in scientific writing for the pharmaceutical and clinical research industries. Our team of medical writers produces high quality written materials on a variety of ophthalmic topics. Articles are published in ophthalmology trade journals and peer reviewed scientific journals for an audience comprised of physicians and other experts.

ORA Clinical Research and Development, Inc. is an internationally renowned drug development group located in North Andover, MA, just 25 miles north of Boston. We are a rapidly growing company that specializes in developing ophthalmic pharmaceuticals and novel disease models to evaluate these therapies.

ORA consults with leading pharmaceutical, medical device and biotechnology companies and is involved with every stage of a drug's development taking a drug from "powder through FDA approval". This includes developing clinical, regulatory, business, and marketing plans, interfacing with and applying to the FDA, and medical writing.

Responsibilities of a medical writer include researching technical aspects of topics in ophthalmology, writing 250-4000 word articles, soliciting comments from physician consultants, managing communications from journal editors as well as internal communication platforms. Regulatory and technical writing for submission to regulatory agencies, and final reports of clinical research studies are part of a medical writer’s responsibilities. Projects also include slide presentations, abstracts, posters, sales aids and interfacing with opinion leaders in ophthalmology and marketing professionals.

While candidates with a bachelor’s degree in the sciences are preferred, all candidates with a strong interest in writing will be considered. A minor or double major in English is a strong plus, as is clinical experience. Ability to effectively research medical and scientific information, comprehension of technical and medical literature, strong written and verbal communication skills, and intermediate level computer skills are required. Candidates must be resourceful and proficient in gathering information from the web, online publication databases, libraries, physicians, patients, industry experts, and clients. Being able to effectively interface with clients to understand and meet their needs within agreed timelines is key to the success of the medical writer at ORA.
