The Office of Career Services maintains a Credentials service for BU students and Alums. Students can open a file at any time during their years at BU or after they have graduated. We encourage students who are interested in this service to open the file early, and to get recommendations from appropriate faculty members.
We make forms available for students to give you when requesting a
recommendation. You may use the form or provide a separate letter,
as you prefer. The student should also give you an envelope pre-addressed
to our office for your convenience. These are available in our office,
if you would like to have some on hand.
Since students will sometimes ask a reference to update a letter to include subsequent coursework or accomplishments, we suggest that you keep a copy of recommendations that you write, particularly for not-yet-graduated students.
