These are some questions you may want to ask yourself if you are considering
becoming self-employed or an entrepreneur:
Personal questions:
- What do I want from self-employment?
- What strengths and skills do I have that will make me successful?
- How will this impact my personal life?
- How will this affect me financially?
- What do I really like to do?
- What am I really good at doing?
- How do I stay motivated?
- What level of risk am I comfortable with?
Financial questions:
- Can I afford to go into business for myself?
- Should I start from scratch, buy, or franchise my business?
- Where will I get my financing from?
Business questions:
- Do I have a clear idea of the product or service that I will provide?
- How much do I know about this business?
- What customers/markets can I pursue?
- Who is my competition?
Implementation questions:
- Will I be the sole proprietor/owner or will I have a partner or partners?
- Will I have employees?
- What professional help do I need to get started?
- Will I work out of my home, or lease office space?
- What actions must I take to get started?

In order to research the various occupations, you may want to do any of the following:
- Speak with a Career Counselor.
- Read the books available in the Career Resource Library.
- Talk with individuals working in the field.
- Contact related professional associations.
- Obtain an internship in a field of interest.
