Advertising and/or Public Relations - Quick Tips to Careers

Introduction

Careers in Advertising and/or Public Relations will encompass a wide variety of communication and media usage. You will need to have strong written and speaking skills, as well as be a "people person". You will need to have an extensive liberal arts education, and/or major in Advertising, Public Relations, or both. Advertising careers include account management, advertising agencies, corporate departments, creative services, and a variety of media companies. Public Relations careers include public information, investor relations, public affairs, corporate communications, employee relations, marketing or product publicity, and consumer service or customer relations.

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to synthesize information.
  • Strong creative ability.
  • Ability to build relationships with many types of people.
