Involvement with organizations in your field of interest can help
you in several ways: you can learn more about the field and the types
of jobs associated with it; you can learn about specific employers;
you might make individual contacts that will come in handy during
your initial job search or later in your career; you might have an
opportunity to present your papers or research; you will have access
to up-to-date information in the field as it evolves.
The professional associations listed below are those that we have
determined have student chapters, have a specific student membership
category, or encourage student participation. Some organizations provide
free or reduced student rates to their newsletters or events.
Investigate their websites (and bookmark them for future reference!)
and consider participating or joining, now or in the future.
