Services for Alumni

Career Services provides a range of services to alumni. Remember to check out the Alumni Office for other services.

Career Counseling

During the first year after graduation, alumni can utilize our career counseling services at no charge.

Alumni who graduated more than one year ago are welcome to make appointments with our counselors for a fee of $25.00 per hour.

Call 617-353-3590 to schedule an appointment.

Any BU alumnus/alumna can visit us during walk-in hours, and meet with a staff person on a first-come-first served basis for a quick 15-minute session at no charge. Please note that serving current students is our first priority, and on rare occasions during busy times we might see a waiting student first.

Career Testing Package

Career Testing, combined with career counseling, is available for all alumni. A fee of $200.00 includes:
  • Intake appointment
  • Administration and interpretation of Strong Interest Inventory
  • Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
  • Skills and Values card sorts
  • Career Resource Library card
Appointments can be arranged at your convenience. Call 617-353-3590 and ask for an appointment with Martha Brill. Please indicate that you might be interested in testing.

Career Fairs

All alumni are always welcome at any of our Career Fairs, and of course there is no charge for any of these events. Please be aware that many employers at our career fairs (although not all) are looking to speak primarily with entry-level candidates, and might be less able to provide information for candidates with extensive experience.

Virtual Graduate School Fair

Boston University Career Services and the Boston College Career Center co-sponsor a Virtual Graduate School Fair during the months of October and March each year.

A list of registered programs will be available on our home page throughout these months. This can be a great chance to explore possibilities and learn about new programs.

Career Library

Alumni are welcome to use the Career Resource Library at any time; no appointment necessary. The library contains books on career exploration, self-assessment, the job search process, and graduate school information. Hours are 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday – Thursday, and 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday. Summer hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. every day. Please call 617-353-3590 to check for hours during academic breaks.

Career Advisory Network

The Career Advisory Network, or C.A.N., is a database of BU alumni who have volunteered to speak with BU students and other alums about their careers. C.A.N. should be used for career exploration, informational interviewing, or networking only, and not for conducting a job search. The database is maintained by the Alumni Office.

Credentials Service

Career Services offers a Credentials Service (also known as Dossier Service) to current students and alumni.

Fee to open a file: $25.00
Fee to send Credentials: $7.50 per sending

For more information, please see the Credentials section of this website.
