How Alumni can Help

Post Jobs/Internships for Students

Find great employees for your organization and help current BU students or recent alums at the same time: post your job openings with us! Jobs or internships can be posted throughout the year, at any time, at no charge.

While you are welcome to send us postings by mail, fax, or e-mail, we encourage you to use BU CareerLink as your method for posting jobs and internships online.

Jobs not submitted to the on-line system will be placed in our Career Resource Library binders for students to view. All listings are classified by job type for posting.

[Note: Positions that are short-term, temporary, and not internships should be faxed to the Student Employment Office at 617-353-9200.]

Postings can be sent by mail to:
Office of Career Services
19 Deerfield Street, Third Floor
Boston, MA 02215

Or by fax to:
617-353-5891

At a minimum, we recommend that you provide the following information for each job listed:
  • Company name
  • Job title
  • Duties
  • Qualifications
  • Location
  • Hours, if non-standard
  • How candidates should apply
  • Application deadline, if any
Other information you might consider including:
  • Information on your company
  • Whether or not you will consider non-US citizens
  • Salary range
  • Company web site, if applicable
Volunteer for the Career Advisory Network (C.A.N.)

The Career Advisory Network, managed by the Boston University Alumni Office, is a database of BU alums who have volunteered to speak with current students or other alums about such topics as:
  • How they got started in their professions
  • Their job responsibilities and working conditions
  • The impact of work on their personal lives
  • Graduate school
  • Employment trends in their fields
  • Relocating
Students are told that C.A.N. is not to be used to find a job or an internship, nor is it to be used for any kind of solicitation.

A student could benefit enormously by hearing first-hand about your own experiences. To learn more about C.A.N. or register as a volunteer please contact the Boston University Alumni Office at 800-800-3466, 617-353-5261, or alumni@bu.edu.

Participate in Alumni Nights

The Office of Development and Alumni Relations sponsors career nights during the academic year. Typically, students are able to attend panel discussions with BU alums who are working in a variety of fields, and then meet and speak with alums at a reception immediately following. If you would like to be involved in one of these events to benefit students, please contact them at 617-353-5261.

Regional Alumni Clubs

Another great way to benefit students and young alums is to join and participate in a regional alumni club. We often tell students that networking is an important part of career development, and we know that the bond between BU alumni is a strong one. Encourage young alums; your assistance, advice, and success could be a real inspiration!
