Boston Idea Week

Boston Idea Week (BIW) will bring together Boston’s change-makers, leaders, creative thinkers, entrepreneurs and world-class college students to share and celebrate innovative ideas, products, networks and businesses that are being tested and formed in Boston.

Idea Week 2013 will take place in Boston’s Innovation District showcasing the talented individuals, businesses and future opportunities in this thriving area. Boston Idea Week is a joint venture by the Boston Redevelopment Authority and the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, two organizations focused on the continued growth of Boston’s innovation economy.

Schedule of Events for Saturday, October 5:
10:30am – 5pm: 100 Year Birthday Party
Host: Boston Children’s Museum
Location: Boston Children’s Museum
Saturday is filled with programs for kids and adults including live animal presentations, KidStage plays, visiting artists, an outdoor National Grid Tinker Tent filled with science and hands-on making and fixing activities, and performers including Revels, Urbanity Dance, the Afro-Brazilian Ensemble, and Iskwelahang Pilipino Rondalla. The day will culminate with “Up Too Late” a party for adults with music, dancing, improv, food and drink.

1:00pm & 7:00pm: Street Seats Tours: Reimagining the Public Bench
Host: Design Museum Boston
Location: Start and end at Strataform Bench next to Children’s Wharf Park.
Enjoy a guided tour of Street Seats to learn about the designers and work behind each new bench. Tours begin and end at Strataform next to Children’s Wharf Park, and last about 45 minutes.

2pm: Harpoon Octoberfest
Host: Harpoon Brewery
Location: Harpoon Brewery
A festival of beer, music, and Fall in New England at the Harpoon Brewery. Come celebrate the 23rd Anniversary of the original New England-style Octoberfest.

9pm – 1am: Boston Children’s Museum: UP TOO LATE
Host: Boston Children’s Museum
Location: Intercontinental
Boston Children’s Museum is turning 100 and celebrating in style! For one night only, the museum will be bursting at the seams with dancing, food, drink, and unexpected delights as we stay “Up Too Late” to celebrate Boston Children’s Museum’s 100th birthday.
