Boston Idea Week (BIW) will bring together Boston’s change-makers, leaders, creative thinkers, entrepreneurs and world-class college students to share and celebrate innovative ideas, products, networks and businesses that are being tested and formed in Boston.

Idea Week 2013 will take place in Boston’s Innovation District showcasing the talented individuals, businesses and future opportunities in this thriving area. Boston Idea Week is a joint venture by the Boston Redevelopment Authority and the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, two organizations focused on the continued growth of Boston’s innovation economy.

Schedule of Events for Tuesday, October 1:

7:45 am: Small Business of the Year Awards
Location: Sheraton Boston

Now in its 29th year, the Small Business of the Year Awards honor some of Greater Boston’s top small, high growth businesses that demonstrate achievement in management, workplace excellence, product innovation, and social responsibility and have a commitment to growing here in Greater Boston.

8:00am – 7:30pm: Care FWD2013
Location: Westin Waterfront
Host: Careinnovators
CareForward (CareFWD) 2013 is a brand new regional cross-industry event bringing the Massachusetts health care community together for a day filled with keynotes, panels, and TEDx-style talks with some of the biggest names in the industry. CareFWD will CELEBRATE Greater Boston’s renowned health care innovations, hold a TOWN HALL to identify opportunities and challenges to maintaining Massachusetts as the premier destination for health care innovation, and INSPIRE with vision talks on trends transforming all health care industries.

5pm – 9pm:2nd Annual Intercollegiate Mixer for Entrepreneurship (AIM4E)
Location: Microsoft Nerd Center
Host: ePowerhouse & City of Boston Office of Business Development
ePowerhouse is partnering up with the City of Boston Office of Business Development to give you the opportunity to network with Boston’s most entrepreneurial peers, startup enthusiasts, and experts on entrepreneurship.

5:30pm – 7:30pm:PayPal Boston Presents: The PayPal Start Tank
Location: PayPal Boston, 1 International Place, Boston, Ma
Host: PayPal Boston & Start Tank
Meet the latest group of entrepreneurs to be accepted into the PayPal Start Tank. This event will feature members from 23 of PayPal’s new startups, which run the gamut from make-up supplies, nails, recycling, corporate networking, advertising and big data technology, to green companies and disruptive iPad applications. Open to the public, light drinks and refreshments will be served, as well as the second annual “Reverse Pitch SmackDown”!

6:30pm – 8:30pm: Design Museum Boston Presents: Street seats at W Boston
Location: W Hotel
Host: Design Museum Boston & Art Week
Celebrate Street Seats: Reimagining the Public Bench at W Boston with an insider perspective with Design Museum Boston. The event will feature an installation of the bench concept models, Street Seats workshop bar where guests can create their own model benches, and a reception featuring the Boston-based design teams. Design brings communities together. Public seating sets the scene for chance encounters, people watching, connecting with nature, or just taking a break, and W Boston’s see-and-be-scene lounge offers the same multisensory, immersive experience. Design Museum Boston will offer a 20% discount on all membership that evening.
