ClimbCorps is the Nation’s first service corps dedicated to building awareness for heart disease prevention and revolutionizing America’s health. Modeled after other successful public service corps, ClimbCorps hires recent college graduates for an 11-month service period, during which they promote health, wellness and cardiovascular risk reduction to the general public. Our program is designed to educate the public on heart disease prevention and encourage people to incorporate more heart-healthy choices into their lives, like taking the stairs. ClimbCorps is a 2-year pilot launched in Fall 2012 by Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and is expected to expand nationally in subsequent years.
No day will be exactly the same. You will have the opportunity to work independently and accomplish the following throughout your year of service:
ClimbAmerica Recruitment and Fundraising: Promote and recruit participants for stair-climbing events held twice a year to raise funds and awareness for heart disease prevention
Resource Development: Interact with companies and organization contacts to promote ClimbCorps and acquire corporate sponsorships.
ClimbClub: Transform stairs into fitness venues and educate employees on health and wellness
Health and Wellness Presentations: Share health and wellness information provided by Brigham and Women’s Hospital health professionals with businesses both inside and outside assigned building and community organizations in the Greater Boston area.
