Lauren Bailey is the Acting Deputy Director of Online Communications & Special Assistant to the Chief of Technology at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Lauren joined the Federal Government as a Management Analyst under the Federal Career Internship Program in May 2008. As Deputy Director for Online Communications, Lauren is responsible for the execution of operations for VA’s award-winning online presence which includes Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. She is the lead technologist for VA’s Blog VAntage Point, which was recently named best blog in the Federal Government in Federal Computer Week. As Special Assistant for the CTO, Bailey assists creation of a state of the art electronic health record for improved Veteran care. Bailey has also co-authored the Department’s Open Government Plan and participated in the technology pieces of some of the Secretary’s major initiatives. Lauren is a 2009 graduate of George Mason University with a Masters of Public Administration and a 2005 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with Bachelors of Arts in political science, communication and economics.
