Our Services

Career Counseling

Career counselors are available for individual appointments to discuss your career-related questions. To schedule an appointment, stop by the office or call 617-353-3590.

BU CareerLink

BU CareerLink provides internship and job listings exclusively for BU students and alumni. You have 24/7 access to search opportunities, apply for on-campus interviews, and manage multiple resumes, cover letters, and additional employment-related documents.

Resume & Cover Letter Review Sessions

Have your resume or cover letter reviewed during a quick 15-minute session by a Center for Career Development staff person. No appointment necessary. Available during review hours only.

Quick Questions

Quick Questions are 15-minute, first-come, first-served sessions during which a career counselor will address ONE question or issue area. This is not meant to take the place of a counseling appointment, but it is a great way to learn about some resources and to identify some action steps you might take.

Career/Personality Assessment

Our counselors utilize a variety of formal and informal assessments tools to help you in choosing a career direction or in making other career-related decisions. A counselor can help you decide which ones are right for you.

Career Exploration Group (CEG)

The CEG is a 5-week, in-depth group workshop. Led by two of our counselors, the CEG enables students to learn more about their own personal styles and work preferences, the wide variety of options available in the world of work, and techniques for making and implementing career and job-search plans. There is a one-time materials fee. The CEG is held once per semester. Call 617-353-3590 for information on the next available group.

Workshops

See the calendar for weekly workshops. If none of those accomodate your needs, we will be happy to work with you. Complete the workshop request form. Requests are filled on an as-available basis and provided for groups of at least 15 participants.

Career Resource Library

The Career Resource Library has information and resources to help you with every piece of the career development process, from understanding the value of self-assessments to how to dress for an interview and everything in between. Browse our website for online resources or come visit us in person at 19 Deerfield Street, Third Floor.

On-Campus Recruiting

Each semester, our recruiting team brings employers to our campus to interview students for internships and jobs. Log on to BU CareerLink for listings.

Employer Information Sessions

Employers often visit our campus to speak with students in small groups. Sometimes the sessions are planned for students participating in on-campus recruiting, but any BU student is welcome to attend. If you are just beginning to think about a career direction, or just starting your job search, consider coming to information sessions. Look on our website for upcoming sessions.

Career Expos

We hold two career expos per year; one in the fall and one in the spring. These events are a good opportunity to research companies, meet recruiters, and see additional career possibilities. Employer lists are available on our website prior to each event.

Mock Interviews

Do you have an interview coming up? We offer mock interview appointments to enable you to practice ahead of time and get helpful tips on answering questions, attire, non-verbal communication, and more.

Other Special Events

From time to time, our office either sponsors or hosts other special career-related events of interest to students.

Career Advisory Network (CAN)

CAN, operated and maintained by the BU Alumni Office, allows current students to contact BU alumni who have volunteered to speak with students about their careers. (Note: CAN is for informational/networking purposes only; please do not use CAN to ask for a job.) Access CAN through the BU Alumni website.

Credentials Service

The CCD is discontinuing its paper credential service and is now referring clients to Interfolio for the processing of credentials. Interfolio is an online service that provides safe storage and sending (electronic or paper) of your credentials documents. New clients should open accounts directly with Interfolio. If you currently have paper files with our office, please see the credentials section for more information.

Note for BU Metropolitan College students: Full-time and part-time students who have matriculated into a degree program have access to BU CareerLink. Students that are enrolled in certificate or noncredit programs do not. If you have any questions or would like to gain access to BU CareerLink, please email bucareer@bu.edu.
