Other Eating Disorders
There are other distressing eating issues and concerns that do not fit clearly in the categories of Anorexia or Bulimia Nervosa. As much as one-third of the people who are seriously affected by eating problems fit into neither of these categories, and yet can experience tremendous relief from the alleviation of their symptoms.
Examples of other types of eating problems
Binge Eating Disorder
Binge Eating Disorder includes recurrent episodes of binge eating (eating a large amount of food in a discrete period of time, usually accompanied by a feeling of being "out of control") without any purging behaviors
Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety Disorders regarding food, such as the fear of new foods, or strong anxiety that certain foods are "off limits" or cause physical distress, without a fear of becoming fat
Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified
Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified, a general category of eating disorders, which includes many cases where all-but-one symptom is present (e.g., someone has all the symptoms of Anorexia Nervosa except she continues to menstruate).
