Public Humanities and Sound Archive Research at the Library of Congress
In the context of his work as National Director of the Library of Congress Radio Preservation Task Force, Dr. Shepperd describes current discourses between academic, federal, and philanthropic sectors at the Library of Congress National Recording Preservation Board. After examining how the logistics of historical memory work are changing under recent Music Modernization Act legislation, he discusses how sound preservation initiatives are contributing to historiographical debates in film and media studies and critical archival studies.Co-sponsored by the Department of Film and Television, the American and New England Studies Program, and the Communication Research Center.
