2019 John Cogan Patient Safety Lecture
Delivering Safer Care: An Obstetric Unit’s Example Toward High Reliability with Christian Pettker, MD The journey to become a high reliability organization (HRO) takes major structural changes, which are well described in the literature. However, the practical steps—the actions and behaviors—that are required to change culture into an organizational frame of mind to support high reliability are often less understood. To give the attendee an understanding of what this takes, this talk will describe the journey toward high reliability of one service line, Obstetrics, within the larger transformation of Yale-New Haven Hospital.
