Environmental Policy in Latin America
The Global Development Policy Center presents a lecture by Ann Helwege. Lunch available prior to the talk. RSVP edamrien@bu.edu . Ann Helwege’s research focuses on environmental policy and poverty in Latin America. Her recent work is about mining and recycling, with an emphasis on providing livelihoods while protecting people from environmental hazards. She has also written extensively on macroeconomic policy in Latin America, highlighting the cyclical nature of trade and fiscal policy and its consequences for low income households. She is the co-author of Latin America’s Economy, as well as co-editor of Latin America’s Economic Future and Modernization and Stagnation: Latin American Agriculture. She currently works with a local nonprofit organization on toxic chemicals, public health and water safety in Nicaragua.
