Film Screening: Pedro Paramo
Join us for a screening of the 1967 Mexican Film Pedro Páramo, directed by Carlos Velo. The film is based on a novel by Juan Rulfo about a man named Juan Preciado who travels to his recently deceased mother's hometown, Comala, to find his father, only to come across a literal ghost town─populated, that is, by spectral figures. It is being screened in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Juan Rulfo's birth. The screening is organized by the Consulate of Mexico in Boston and the Center for Latin American Studies at BU. It will be introduced by Adela Pineda, Director of the Latin American Studies program.
