Opening Our Doors - Sparkle & Chime Art Installation
Sparkle & Chime is Shepley Bulfinch’s art installation to celebrate the Fenway Cultural District and its 2014 Opening Our Doors celebration on October 13th. Hundreds of small suspended mirrored discs and lightweight metal rings have been suspended from selected trees in the park. Sunlight refracting off the discs creates shifting patterns of light across the trees and ground, with the gentle tinkling of chimes as the rings play against the discs in the breeze. Discreet spotlighting extends the visual effect as dusk dissolves into night. The kick-off ceremony for this event takes place on the Christian Science Plaza (corner of Mass Ave/Huntington) at 10am with guest speakers, the Boston Children's Chorus and a kids parade led by Hot Tamale Brass Band with free cupcakes provided by Oakleaf Cakes.
